Valentine's Cake

I made this for Scotty for Valentine's day 2001 (he loves almonds) - and we had heaps left over the next day for our 4th anniversary!

Glace cherries (red of course)
1/4 cup almonds (blanched, slivered, whole, any way you like)
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp almond essence
3 eggs
1 1/4 cup sr flour
1/4 cup milk

Cream butter, sugar and flavours until fluffy (adding sugar gradually).

Add eggs, one at a time, beting well between.

Gradually add flour and milk. Stir in cherries and almonds.

Bake in a greased pan at 150o for 1 hour.
