Entrances

This animated castle was on my front page until late July 1998, when it was replaced by a new javascript castle, below. Amanda's Original Castle
This roll-over castle remained as the front page of my site until the end of 2000. Amanda's Second Castle
The 'diamonds' navigation was on my front page from the end of 2000 to the end of 2001, and became the basis of the following navigation (see below). Diamonds
Ag Eas dAmanda - The Waterfall Gallery - entrance until the end of 2001. The Waterfall Gallery

A variation on the previous 'diamonds' navigation. This design incorporated a random image to appear in the top left hand corner. Faster loading than the previous design, but still over 100k in total.

This design was in place from Oct 2001 to the end of Nov 2002.

Castle design 2001

A new design was implemented in December 2002 after a friend pointed out that a site called 'Amanda's Castle' should probably feature a castle somewhere in the design (something I had not done since the end of 2000).

So I did a large picture with the castle and girl combined, and split them for the corners of this new design, which lasted until the end of 2004. With redesigned text navigation, no rollovers or changing images, this was the fastest loading design yet - allowing visitors to concentrate on the page content.

My tutorials used to be called 'Amalad's Web Advice' and had their own mini site.

In February 2008, the content was moved into my main site and adopted the standard page layout.

Advice

'Artemis' was created to be a mascot for my site. This design was in place from the end of 2004 until February 2008.

This design did away with tables entirely and used CSS for positioning, making it a far more accessible site.

Castle design 2004

My 2008 'Balloon' design incorporated some clever stuff from my online resume as well as new, reasonably accessible, navigation which allowed quick access to my whole site. It was in place from Feb 2008 until Sept 2008. Why so short? A couple of little problems, like positioning, made me want to upgrade. Also the 'ice castle' lacked a personal touch - something the replacement 'Artist' design brought back.
