Artemis
This is (basically) how I created Artemis. All work was done in Photoshop, using a Wacom tablet.
| Step 1 Start with a reasonably rough sketch. This is a good time to get constructive feedback from family & friends as it's the easiest time to make changes. |
| Step 2 Blow up your image to print size if it isn't already. My finished pictures are usually around 2800 pixels at the widest edge. Reduce the transparency of the sketch layer and then clean up the outlines in a new layer. |
| Step 3 Use the paint-bucket tool, magic wand, and paintbrush tool to fill all areas with basic block colours. I usually separate these into layers containing areas that don't touch. E.g. one layer might contain the belt, straps, boots, crown & blade. |
| Step 4 Lock the transparency of all of your layers. Use the brush tool to colour in the image, starting with the background. |
