The dress was sewn together by my mother-in-law, Sue.
The front panel was a collaboration between my mother and I. We designed the pattern together.
I chose the colours, then we fiddled with Corel draw images - we liked some of the 1920s type squiggly corner pieces - but we couldn't get it to look right, so in the end Mum took the ideas we had and drew the design freehand on some graph paper. Then we coloured it in and squared it out.
I spent about 3 months cross-stitching the design onto linen - Sue was almost frantic when I finished it - 3 weeks before the wedding, hahaha. But I have seen Sue sew herself a full evening dress in one afternoon :-)
Sue also created the gorgeous green bridesmaids dresses AND the flower girls' dresses!
